Rainer Niermann is an award-winning director, producer and filmmaker based in London. He is co-director of Play On Films, a production company founded together with Jan Maroske.
His work as director for fiction film often centers around romantic and witty comedies. His short films have been screened at film festivals around the world, with “A Small Place” winning awards for Best Film and Best Screenplay. As producer, associate producer and development associate he has worked on his own projects as well as on international feature film projects focusing on script development and project packaging.
He completed his undergraduate degree in film, theatre and music at the University of Hildesheim, Germany before studying directing and filmmaking at the New York Film Academy in New York and gaining an MA at the London Film School.
Rainer began as a director in musical theatre assisting distinguished directors like Harry Kupfer and Gil Mehmert. Rainer initiated and directed the musical projects “Elisabeth”, “Joseph” and “One More Night”. He regularly works with the renowned Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich, directing for them, amongst other works, the musical “City Of Angels” and has taught courses in film acting and filmmaking.
